STATUS: Active

LOCATION: Invermere, British Columbia, Canada

This ship was imported into Canada new, in March of 1970 by Mr. P. M. Van Gruen and flown at Hope and other areas of western British Columbia until 1977. During this time frame, it appears to have had several owners, including Randy Jang, P. Lamla, and A. Gerlach. In the fall of 1977, the ship was purchased by D. Rowe and G. Kneier and flown at Black Diamond, Alberta, Canada, the home of the CU-Nim Club, until the summer of 1986 at which time it was badly damaged ruing landing.

In 1987, after the ship was repaired, it was sold to H. Eley, D. Grant, and H. Hoiland of the Regina Gliding and Soaring Club. At one time or another in this period, owners included Gary Bozek, Jerry Dixon, Dave Chamberlain, and Gordon Stevenson. The ship is still active and is now located at Invermere, B.C., close to the home of the then-current owner, Bryan Florence. (Photo at right is at its tiedown in Invermere.)  In March, 2002, Bryan sold the ship in March, 2001, to Walter Mueller of Grande Prairie, Alberta. At that time, it had 2082 hours on the airframe, and by March, 2003 it had risen to 2151 hours.

Walter, who is (in his words) "82 years young" built a new fuselage dolly and now san do the rigging and derigging alone!

The Cirrus has a total of ca. 2100 hours (as of September, 2002) and is in excellent condition and has not sustained any further accidents or damage. It is stored in the trailer and brought out for flying on weekends. The rudder damper was replaced a few years ago with the approved VW part. In 1998, a wing dolly was built to aid in moving and installing the wings which means very little heavy lifting when assembling the ship.

The ship is equipped with radio, oxygen, RICO and Ball varios, an electric turn and bank indicator, plus the usual airspeed indicator and altimeter, etc., and is beautiful to fly.
