Cirrus No. 80, N6660

Currently Owned by: Mike Malis

STATUS: In Service

LOCATION: Krey Field (El Mirage area) in Southern California.

This ship was first imported by Motorless Flight Enterprises of Glastonbury, CT according to the Bill of Sale dated November 6, 1969. They sold it, for $8,260, on April 4, 1970 to Edward Roberson of Channelview, TX.

Roberson sold it on February 24, 1973 to Paul M. Elliott, Jr. of Bishop, TX. He didn’t keep it very long, selling it (for $8,500) on November 11, 1973 to Forrest Blossom of El Toro, CA.

Forrest sold it in 1976 to Steve Koerner of Simi Valley,CA. Steve flew it less than a year and sold it on November 17, 1977 to Samuel Ramsey of Rosemond, CA. Again, it didn't stay long there and Max Weiss of Santa Barbara, CA. bought it on April 28, 1978. He bought after it was damaged by a ground loop (spiral stress cracks in the tail boom). It was repaired by a Schemp-Hirth employee using approved materials and procedures.

Max kept it until May 14, 1983 when he sold it to Antelope Valley Soaring Club, Santa Monica, CA 93105 (Contact: Richard Seburn) where it stayed until 2003, when it was purchased by Mike Mails.  Interestingly enough, Mike had flown the ship for years as a member of Antelope Valley, but when the Club put it up for sale and another buyer expressed interest, he couldn't bear to see it leave and bought it!

A FAA Form 337 dated September 4, 1992 describes a repair to the ships left elevator.

There is only one repair report in the FAA records: a Form 337 dated September 4, 1992 describing a repair to the ship’s left elevator.
