Cirrus No. 31, D-0068
(Netherlands)

Currently Owned by: Charles. H. Munnig Schmidt

STATUS: Flying

LOCATION: Hilversum Aerodrome (EHHV)

It was build in 1968 and made its first flight on 25 July that year. The first owner was A. Rohm who was a friend of Klaus Holighaus, There is a picture of him in the Schempp-Hirth book standing aside the prototype cirrus. After a year it was sold to a Frenchman, Jean Bouchety; however it was registered on the name of Marianne Deutschman and was based on the airfield of Fayence in south of France where it stayed until it was sold in Germany to Manfred Schoch in 1988. He sold the glider to Bernd Durre in 1994, and the current owner bought it from Bernd in 1998 and flies it in Holland and France, where the picture is made (we don't have many mountains in Holland!).

It has 2283 flight hours and as it had still the original gelcoat.
Charles has refurbished the fuselage and tailplane with polyurethane paint and fitted it with a new canopy. He has yet to gather the courage to overhal the wings!

Although Charles lives in the Netherlands, he's decided to keep the German registration
